Perform From The World Inside You
Beethoven began losing his hearing in his late 20s, and by the last decade of his life, he was almost completely deaf.
I’m sure you know this.
But, maybe you don’t know this. I didn’t.
After losing his hearing, Beethoven faced immense personal and professional challenges. (Duh)
Once Beethoven was deaf he spent his life trying to recreate the sound that the audience wanted to hear. It wasn’t working.
Eventually, he understood that he must perform from the world inside of himself.
Forced to literally tap into his inner voice, his later compositions suggest a profound exploration of new musical ideas and expressions.
It’s difficult (almost impossible) to perform from the world inside you. It leaves one feeling vulnerable and, paradoxically, isolated.
This challenge deters so many from venturing into such intimate territories of their psyche.
That’s why most people don’t do it.
There's an undeniable magic in successfully channeling your universe into tangible forms. When you begin to harness and articulate the visions, melodies, or narratives that flutter through your dreams and deepest contemplations, your work gains an unparalleled focus. It transforms into a mirror, reflecting your singular essence, yet astonishingly, it also becomes a canvas where others can project and recognize fragments of their own selves.
This is a profound shift in the artists’ perspective.
I highly recommend it as a tool for growth and healing.
